Top 10 Coffee Drinks

Below is a list of how we like to mix things up a bit, using a coffee machine, some coffee beans and a lot of imagination.

  • Butter Coffee
You’ve heard of butter tea, well this is butter coffee! Using your standard automatic coffee machine and a few other common ingredients, you can create an Indianesque coffee drink like no other. You will need 1 tablespoon of rum,  1 ½  cups of fresh brewed coffee, 1 whole clove , 1 teaspoon of brown sugar , 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg  and 2 teaspoons of butter. Put butter into a mug and then pour the hot coffee over it. Then add brown sugar and stir it well. Put the clove and the rum in the mug, sprinkle nutmeg over it and you have butter coffee!
  • Coffee and Coke Float
This is an old 80’s favourite but it is one of the simplest and the best ways to get the most out of your caffeine fix and your coffee machine. You need 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream, 1 cup of freshly made espresso, 2 teaspoons of sugar, some Coca Cola and 30 grams of cream. Put the coffee, cream and sugar into a large mug and blend the ingredients together. Then add the ice cream and top it all off with a dash of coke. Buzz the rest of the day away.
  • Espresso Con Panna
For those of you who need reminding about coffee’s close ties to Italy, this is the way to ask for or serve coffee with whipped cream.  You need a good coffee machine that will make a strong espresso shot. You will then need to put the shot into a tall glass. Take some fresh whipped cream and fill the rest of the glass with it. Sit back and enjoy.
  • Caffe Vienna
Note: This coffee drink is not for the skinny decaf latte set. Once you have established which coffee machine will be preparing your espresso, put the shot aside. Then, in a coffee mug add 1/3 of a cup of whipped cream and 1/3 of a cup of chocolate cream…down in the espresso shot and dust the top with cinnamon and hot chocolate powder. Let us know what you think.
  • Amaretto Cream
This drink is for those hot summer nights when you thought coffee didn’t quite match the occasion. Make a double shot of espresso using your automatic or manual coffee machine. Put the coffee in an airtight container and chill. Then, put coffee, 15 mills of Kahlua, 15 mills of Amaretto and 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream into a blender. Blend it all up and then pour into a tall glass to serve. Top it off with shavings of decadent dark chocolate and some whipped cream and there you have a summer drink that will please any crowd.
  • Iced Caramel Twist
Coffee and chocolate go well together. So adding caramel to the mix can only be a good thing. You will need a coffee machine and a cocktail shaker for this one. Fill your shaker with ice cubes and then add one teaspoon of caramel syrup and one teaspoon of chocolate syrup. Then prepare 2 shots of espresso with your coffee machine and set aside. Add ½ a cup of cold milk to the mix and shake up. Then add the coffee shots and shake well, before serving in a martini glass. Yum.
  • Mocha Caffe
An old favourite. Make a shot of espresso using your coffee machine and leave it in the glass. In a different glass put two heaped spoonfuls of hot chocolate and stir with a little bit of boiling water to make a paste. Pour over with the shot of espresso and dust with hot chocolate.
  • Coffee in Hel
Make a double shot of espresso using your coffee machine and then add two teaspoons of sugar. Stir well so all the sugar granules dissolve. Add one flat teaspoon of ground cardamom and stir. This drink is for serious coffee lovers who don’t need the added milk. This recipe can also be prepared using a coffee pot over the stove or fire, however – when you have a coffee machine at home you may as well make this drink using the best method to brew coffee there is!
  • Dirty Vanilla Latte
This drink goes well with brunch but perhaps not on a weekday. Make a double shot of espresso with your coffee machine that is now well versed in coffee cocktails. Chill the coffee until cold. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and then add two shots of cream liqueur and two shots of vanilla vodka. Pour in the coffee and top with some whipped cream…mmmm.
  • Cappuccino
The simplest and the best! All you need is a cappuccino mug, a great coffee machine, some fresh milk and some hot chocolate powder and you have the best coffee drink out there. The trick is to froth the milk correctly so that there is no milk – only a mountain of froth – sitting on your strong, smooth espresso base. Dust it with hot chocolate and off you go. Forget all the syrups, the alcohol, the gimmicks. Cappuccino wins.
