Guatemalan Coffee

Guatemalan coffee beans rate amongst some of the best in the world. Unfortunately, the nation’s political and social issues deem the true Guatemalan coffee bean hard to come by. There are many controlling conglomerates who claim to be producing and selling authentic Guatemalan coffee, however when scrutinized its quality is of no comparison to the coffee produced and sold by the smaller farmers and co-ops in various regions of the country.

Interfering politics has meant that the overall reputation of the region’s coffee has suffered, and it is difficult to know who to trust. The best thing to do is to try and buy specialty Guatemalan coffee blends, from a trustworthy source. Ask your coffee supplier if they have direct contact with the farmers who supposedly produced the coffee. A few questions will hopefully lead you in the right direction towards tasting a genuine Guatemalan cup of coffee.
