Coffee Beans

From stove top to bon fire, there are many different ways to make a cup of coffee. However according to our expert opinion and research it's the coffee that pours out of an espresso machine that is loved by millions and for very good reason.

Under pressure

When it comes to drinking good coffee it’s all about the pressure. In fact pressure is so important in the coffee making process that it is a very good measure of how good your coffee will be; if you can decipher how much pressure the coffee beans were under in the coffee making process you are on your way…and we have discovered that some wanna be coffee machines like the filter coffee brewer just does not match the pressure mounted by a coffee machine; a real coffee machine.

The first coffee machine was actually invented because an astute businessman named Luigi Bezzera thought his workers were taking too long to make a cup of coffee. He discovered a method of pressurising the coffee beans and grounds, which led to a new process that managed to produce a better cup of coffee in half the time. Bezzera is one of many who wanted the credit for inventing the first industrial coffee machine, and it’s no wonder why there was a fight for the claim….today coffee machines aplenty span the world, all using the ingenious pressurizing system or a variation of it.

The old stove tops and ‘filter coffee machines’

Before Bezzera’s system, the only systems available for making coffee were the drip or float kinds, which simply wasted too much time at work and at home. However even the stove tops made better coffee than the filter machines…to this day it is annoying to hear people talking about their ‘coffee machines’ only to discover later they were referring to their coffee filters. I mean really! The stove tops at least applied some pressure in the brewing process.

But still…

When it comes to drinking really good coffee you’re prepared to pay for, nothing is as good as an espresso machine. We should all be aware of how incredible Bezzera’s pressurized coffee machine system was and is to this day. The amazing thing about the process is it is able to sort the wheat from the chaff, ridding your coffee of much unwanted bitterness that the coffee grounds contain before it even reaches your cup. It does all this so quickly that we do not even realize the complicated process our beans have been through in order to taste as good as they do as we watch the coffee pouring out of the coffee machine.

And that’s why…

Filter ‘coffee machines’ are no longer acceptable in cafes around the world. Thanks to Bezzera and others that proceeded, the coffee machine – manual or automatic – has taken over the coffee consuming world which has made drinking as well as making good coffee something we can almost take for granted.
The lattes and espressos that we have grown accustomed to in cities like Melbourne are still fairly novel in cities around America where filter coffee machines can still be found unfortunately. But the filter coffee machine cannot make the vast array of coffee drinks that the commercial and domestic coffee machines we are used to can make. So while they stay novel and fresh, the coffee beverages that a coffee machine can make become more and more in demand. Eventually, even the remote city in America will be equipped with baristas and top-class coffee machines to compete with the rest of the world.

So say your goodbyes to the filter coffee machines of yesteryear…they can no longer compete with the fast pace café lifestyles of today.
